An evening shower to rinse off the day and to scoot freshly and cleanly under the covers!

There have always been discussions about whether showering in the morning or evening is better. The truth is, there are pros and cons for both times of day and there is no best option. It depends on what type of person you are as well as your pre-/post-shower activities.

It all depends upon which shower effects you most benefit from, that should dictate the right time of the day.

But there are actually several reasons why we might prefer to take a shower in the evening. Some simply find it quite difficult to get up earlier in the morning (especially in the winter time) to take a shower and prefer to have some extra time under the bed sheets. Especially if we don’t need a water confrontation to get ready for the day, taking a shower can be a very beneficial evening activity to relax mind and body.

If you are allergic, it might even be a must for you to rinse off all germs and irritants that settled on your skin and hair throughout the day.

But in general, getting rid off makeup, dust, dirt, pollutants and oil before climbing into bed is especially beneficial if suffering from skin conditions. Our skin naturally exfoliates and replenishes itself at night. Cleansing before bed can help clear your skin as it removes bacteria that causes outbreaks as well as unclogs pores thereby improving the skin’s ability so breath. You had a stressful day and your skin feels a bit sweaty and greasy? You sometimes have problems falling asleep?

If you want to relax your body and mind and improve your sleep, an evening shower can definitely be of great help. Integrating a shower into your “bedtime routine” in the evening is ideal to separate day and night. It is a good signal for your body to let go of the stress of the day. It reduces mental and physical tension and helps you switch to relaxation mode. No phone, no emails, just warm water and the scent of your favorite care products that simply wash away the stress. It's time to completely relax your mind and body! Your heartbeat, your breathing and your metabolism slow down and show your body that it is time for bed.

But be mindful of shower water temperature and what time you are heading to bed. Our body temperature naturally begins to fall in the evening, which is a signal that it is time to go to sleep. The rapid cooling our bodies feel after etting out of the shower fools us into thinking that it’s time to go to bed. Be careful not to heat yourself up too close to bedtime as it could interrupt the system’s natural sleeping signals. You will end up needing to plan for more cooling down time after the shower. Therefore, a warm (not too hot) evening shower is ideal for getting the body relaxed and primed for a sound sleep.
